| I remember that I was a big fan of Ali, when I was a child. I thought it was a great guy and he was my hero. It makes me angry when people say that Tyson is a great champion. As far as I am concerned, is to champion what Dolly Parton is a flat! Real champions live 24 hours a day and conduct themselves honorably outside the boxing ring as well. Look how Tyson has conducted himself! This movie shows you the sick, screwed up that the person is. A rapist, a bully and a coward yellow! He is nothing more than a thug and a bully compared with when it becomes a coward. Buster Douglas and Evander Holyfield proved that because they had no fear of him and beat him. I write to celebrities as a hobby and I wrote a letter to one of the characters portrayed in this film, Teddy Atlas. Tyson was one of the first trainers. Tyson fondled her little sister and went after him with a gun and it became clear that in this film. I just wish more people have resisted it like this. As far as I know, Tyson is a disgrace. He is a head between Campos and a champion among Chumps! and I will say something more, Muhammad Ali would have kicked his ass yellow. s |

Given his conviction on a rape charge, the film is careful not to expose him as a hero or villain, but paints a warts and all portraits of her rise to fame, the pressures of success, and the people who form its destiny for good or bad. Constrained by deadlines, the script gallops through a succession of the relevant details, go down briefly on the events that culminated with Tyson (temporary) fall in 1995. Novices will be illuminated by the chronology, while boxing fans will be entertained by the director Uli Edel of the straight-arrow to the material. He portrays the life of Tyson as a circus in which he was eventually led astray by the circumstances of its own success. In fact, the script retains most of his venom for Tyson of the ex-wife Robin Givens, which they characterize as an ungrateful gold-digger who took advantage of their naivete. Production values are uniformly solid and the cast is excellent: Michael Jai White makes a fair imitation of the title character, George C. Scott Tyson plays the mentor Cus D'Amato through acres of gritted teeth, and Paul Winfield was surely born to play Don King! |
| A very common-for-TV product, "Tyson" is intended to be a serious biopic, while extending the moments of anguish for the effect, is moving rapidly through the esoteric of the sport of boxing corrupt, and muddling things sensationalism which is the only thing that makes Tyson even remotely interesting. A lukewarm at best to see that it is more likely to appeal to the general population that to fans of boxing. |
| This is a fact-for-TV movie about Iron Mike. As people have already said there are several memorable and incredible performances given here. Scott is, in my opinion, one of, if not the greatest actor who lived in the past century. Along with Jason Robards, Jack Lemmon, Jimmy Cagney, and today Kevin Spacey. (Yes, I said, Kevin ranks up there with the all-time Campos. Do not believe me? See the movie he made with Annette Benning and Chris Cooper, and then watch the movie Kaizer Soze. Unfortunately it is late and titles is beyond me .....) Therefore, Scott steals the film cursing and screaming and discussing their lungs. Indeed, after his death, it was rumored that D'Amato has forced Iron Mike to perform oral sex with him when Mike was a young boy under the tutelage Cus. True or not, that would certainly explain a lot .... Paul Winfield and Don King is a great game. Its performance is much more credible than Ving Rhames would be here several years later in "The King". Tony LoBianco is good as Jim Jacobs who for years managed Tyson. Jacobs was indeed a jack of all trades, earning U.S. Men's Handball Championship, taking the largest private collection of fight films ever collected, and be an expert in comics. Talk about your Renaisannce guys. The only weak spot is Michael Jai White. He does not really capture the caged animals in the intensity of Iron Mike in his glory years. Tyson certainly should consider making a movie about his life with actors of their choice. Overall a good effort by some players of great talent. |
| I think we all agree that the character Mike Tyson leaves a lot to say so I think that the film "Tyson" was quite good given the resources that I had to work. The problem with the controversial biography is that you can not provide the overall response, no matter how much of a budget in them. And also the fact that many spectators watching these films come in with the views previously fixed does not help either. For a "made for TV" biography, I thought this movie was excellent border. I realize that Iron Mike could not cover the entire life in one hour and some changes but I thought that this film is always a great summary of dubious reputation. Not to defend his character or insult, but it only stuck to the facts. I thought that George C. Scott and Michael Jai White gave great performances. The only criticism I have is that many of the other players came out a little flat, but it was not enough to bring the overall result. To tell the truth, I would like to see a sequel always the same crew back together and stuck with the same (or similar) formula. |
