| Leatherheads is a very nice film, full period of the game and was the language that gives him back in the days during World War II, though not completely back in the day, as George Clooney and John Krasinski still an act so try to be Throwback, but still modern. That said, there are plenty of laughs in this funny movie, with a good mix of football and an intriguing romantic triangle. Perhaps it could have been a little more football, but at its own expense, came lots of laughter and good scenes between Clooney-Krasinski, Renee Zellwinger-Clooney and Krasinski-Zellwinger. It is interesting to see how professional football and professional sports in general, were treated on days other better paid professions. The style of 40's music sets the audience back in that period, if a fault. All the players that really a good game to this film, I was surprised that in that it is not so much about football as I expected, but the alleged falsehoods about war heroes, heroes to a country needs to believe in that time (and still does). I recommended this film, co-written by acclaimed writer Rick Reilly of Sports Illustrated, both for fans of sports history, and for those seeking good laughs again launching a first day. |
| The reading of some of the other comments, maybe people thought that this would be a great film? If so, lighten up. This was (and was supposed to be) a happy film. And it pulled very well. The Council, for Clooney, Zellweger, and others captured the spirit of the times, including humor, clothing, and the landscape. The argument was not serious but flowed well. The Clooney character, Dodge Connelly, leads a team in Duluth, and includes a star college player. In the end, they end up in Chicago, with Connelly on one side of the ball and college star in the other. The birth of modern professional football is woven into the fabric. Clooney is the age, 46, a little old for a football player, was not covered with makeup, but integrated into his character. I believe that in the film, which was 40 to 45 years old. Zellgeger as Lexie Littleton, a reporter who has to find the truth behind the star of the university heroic war record, played its part too well. Very good direction Clooney. Definitely felt like you were in the 20s. It is no exaggeration or underdone. One of those films that come out at the end glad that you left. |
| I saw an advance screening of Leatherheads at NYU Movies101 last night. I was so excited when it was announced that this Leatherheads Romance movie is shown. I settled in my seat ready to enjoy another great Leatherheads film that George Clooney directs and acts in. All during the movie, I thought "Is it just me, or is this Leatherheads movie going nowhere." I was trying as hard as him. Well, it was not just me. I was surprised to see about three quarters of the house filled with people who saw him felt the same way, even the teacher's accommodation. As discussed by the selection, has top-notch Scenic design, sound track (by Randy Newman), Editing, Acting (Renée Zellweger is great), Directing, Film, and Cinematography. I did not have a good story, and that's what he did fail. The script was written in the 1980s by two sports writers. Clooney has been around with him for over 2 decades. I suspect that the script was about the script left alone in their origin. The concept of history is great, but the writing was horrible. Perhaps George Clooney believes that the concept and the greatness of "carrying" the movie? It is disappointing to see George Clooney in a DVD film Leatherheads that has failed in it anyway. It does do good comedy, as in "O Brother, Where Art Thou?". How can we do so with terrible material? Directing George was great. |
