In New York City, Gulley, who's in middle school, lives with his father and step-mother; his paternal grandmother dominates the family's life. I mean Chris Eigeman the "Turn the River" is a character worthy of study but is a little slow. Famke Janssen plays Kailey Sullivan, a woman with problems in life. However, it has a lofty goal: to rescue his son (Jaymie Dornan) from her abusive father. From here, much of the Turn the River film focuses on Kailey pool game and how it works in your plan. As I said, this DivX film Turn the River works best as a character study, as I found a little slow. One thing I wondered while watching how people play billiards film. You can not tell if the ball when people are affected, so do the people behind the camera only movie: Turn the River scene again and again until the ball going in the right way? Anyway, maybe once to see OK. Also starring Rip Torn.

Nice character study of a woman whose life is in the player pool circles smaller and smaller and simply want to, but has no way out. Excellent performances by Famke Janssen, which provides a real return underestimated, and in particular, Rip Torn, who normally tolerated - as it always seems to be a change of character MIB - here plays the pool hall owner and gives a very good performance in fact - or underestimated. Not exactly the color of money, or even better than a mediocre film. The story suffers from melancholy and lack of star power. Kailey Sullivan (Famke Janssen) is a small town pool hustler desperate. She receives little revenue from poker and what it can win by picking a pool party or two. His mentor Teddy Quinette (Rip Torn) runs a pool hall in Manhattan called Quinns. Kailey knows that he needs money for his son Gulley (Jaymie Dornan) away from her ex-husband (Matt Ross). "Quinn" provides a set match to hustle Kailey can afford to sweep away her son to Canada and a brighter future. The end is not as predictable as the rest of the film. TURN THE RIVER title makes little sense to me, maybe I was not in the right to see this state of mind. Others in the cast: Marin Hinkle, John Juback, Lois Smith and Terry Kinney. Janssen I really like, but it just was not enough to carry this movie.
